Create Interesting Photos

Whether you are a professional photographer or just an enthusiast with a good cell phone camera, knowing how to frame your picture as you take it can make the difference between drab photos and photos that can wow! Taking the perfect picture and capturing special moments in life are always the goal. So, let’s discuss one of the easiest and simplest ways to accomplish that.

Many people think as they take a picture their subject should be front and center, but this does not always make for the most interesting of photos. I am sure you have heard to “remember the rule of thirds” but do you actually know what this means? Or how to do this with immediate results? Some cameras have settings you can utilize but it is simple enough to do by eye.

As you look at the subject you want to photograph, mentally draw a three-by-three grid cutting your view into thirds going up and down. As you imagine your lines in the viewfinder place the interesting part of your subject directly into either the left or right top square intersection. This can be the eye of a person or animal, or the petal of a flower, but when you fill your view with the image you want perfectly aligned with these imaginary lines your picture is visually more pleasing. Using this simple technique can easily bring a more professional look to your photos.
